This week we give our HATS OFF and the most prestigious
Honorary Grizzly award to
MR. STEVE GOODLING.
For those of you who don't know Steve he is the President/CEO of the Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau and one heck of a good guy. With a budget of only $4million/year he turns it into more than $16million in tax dollars for the city of Long Beach. The LBCVB does more good for our downtown than any other organization by bringing tourists and conventioneers by the thousands each year.

All this a side one of the main reasons we are giving Steve the Honorary Grizzly award was for his efforts in bringing the massive holiday lighting campaign to Long Beach this year. For the past few months the DLBA has been going back and forth over whether or not to fund this fantastic idea. The initial request for the project was $250,000. The answer was pretty much a no-way but when Steve found out he stood up and said THIS IS A GREAT IDEA and pushed it forward.
The big "Festival of Lights" is now a $1.5million event. We understand it will be a very grand one. If it wasn't for Steven Goodling and his leadership to make "Good" things happen we wouldn't have seen a thing.
Steve.....beyond everything else....Thank YOU. We wish we could do more for you but we're on a shoe-string budget over here!
Everyone, when you see the lights remember the guy that made it happen and if you get a chance please shake his hand.
